God Knows Everything

Read: Psalm 139:1–18

There are days when being known sounds wonderful. And there are days when it sounds a little scary.

Most of us spend a lot of energy trying to be understood. We explain ourselves. We defend ourselves. We try to make a good impression. We wonder if anyone really sees what is happening inside us—our worries, hopes, questions, regrets, and dreams.

Psalm 139 gives us a deeper kind of comfort. God knows us completely. Not just the version of us that shows up at church. Not just the smiling family-photo version. Not just the capable, responsible, holding-it-together version. God knows our thoughts before we say them. God knows where we go. God knows what we carry. God knows the child who feels left out, the parent who feels tired, the teenager who feels uncertain, and the adult who quietly wonders if they are enough.

And here is the good news: being fully known by God does not lead to rejection. It leads to love.

At Rainforest Falls, kids learned that God knows everything. That does not mean God is watching to catch us doing something wrong. It means we are never invisible to God. We are never forgotten. We never have to hide our real selves from the One who made us and loves us.

For reflection: What part of your life do you most need to remember God sees and understands?

Try this today: Before bed, pray this simple breath prayer: “God, you know me… and you love me.”

Prayer: Knowing God, thank you for seeing us fully and loving us completely. Help us stop hiding from you. When we feel misunderstood, remind us that you understand. When we feel unseen, remind us that you are near. Amen.
