Joy That Surrenders Control-Tuesday, 12/16/2025
Scripture: Proverbs 3:5–8
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…”
Mary’s courage wasn’t rooted in understanding God’s plan—it was rooted in trusting God’s character. She didn’t have answers, a roadmap, or even reassurance from anyone except God. But she offered her whole self anyway:
“Let it be with me according to your word.”
Most of our anxiety comes from trying to control what we cannot predict. We attempt to manage outcomes, avoid risks, protect ourselves from disappointment. But joy doesn’t come from control. Joy comes from trust.
Proverbs reminds us that leaning on our own understanding is exhausting. Trusting God realigns our inner world. It frees us from carrying what is not ours to carry.
Surrender is not weakness—it is the doorway to joy.
Reflection Question: What situation in your life right now do you need to surrender into God’s hands?
Action Step: Write one fear or burden on a small piece of paper. Pray over it, then physically place it somewhere symbolic (under a cross, on your Bible, or in a prayer box).
Prayer: God, teach me to trust You more than my own understanding. Help me release what I cannot control and find joy in surrender. Amen.
