Scripture: “The Spirit of the Lord… has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free.” – Luke 4:18
When Jesus began His ministry, He announced His mission: freedom for the captive, healing for the broken, sight for the blind. That mission didn’t end two thousand years ago—it continues wherever His followers carry light into dark places.
Kairos volunteers live out this mission when they bring meals, prayer, and listening ears into prisons. But you don’t have to enter a prison to live this calling. Captivity takes many forms—addiction, anxiety, debt, unforgiveness. God calls us to step into these spaces with words and actions of freedom.
Reflection Question: Where do you see people around you longing for freedom today?
Action Step: Offer to pray for or with someone carrying a heavy burden—or share a hopeful resource that might help them move forward.
Prayer: Lord, make me an instrument of Your freedom. Use me to bring hope to those weighed down by chains they cannot break alone. Amen.
