Scripture: “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” – Matthew 25:35
Jesus paints a powerful picture of what real love looks like. It’s not complicated theology or religious jargon—it’s food given to the hungry, water offered to the thirsty, and kindness shown to the stranger. In Matthew 25, He makes it clear: when we love in these ways, we are loving Him directly.
Prison ministry like Kairos is rooted in this truth. Residents often feel forgotten and unloved. A simple act of care—listening without judgment, sharing a meal, writing a note—can break through the walls of despair and spark hope. The same is true in our everyday lives. Someone near you is hungry, thirsty, or feels like an outsider.
Reflection Question: Who in your life right now feels like “a stranger” who needs your welcome?
Action Step: Today, reach out to someone you normally wouldn’t—send a kind message, invite them to sit with you, or show interest in their story.
Prayer: Jesus, open my eyes to see You in the faces of people I might overlook. Help me welcome others as I would welcome You. Amen.
