God Comes Close-Wednesday, 12/24/2025

Scripture: Luke 2:1–20

The birth of Jesus doesn’t happen in comfort or calm. It happens amid displacement, exhaustion, and uncertainty. A baby is born far from home, laid in a feeding trough, welcomed by shepherds who live on the margins.

This is how God chooses to come—close, vulnerable, and present. Not above human struggle, but inside it. The shepherds hear the good news first because God’s love always finds those who least expect it.

Christmas Eve reminds us that no place is too ordinary, no life too messy, and no person too forgotten for God to enter.

Tonight, we celebrate not just a birth, but a promise: God is with us.

Reflection Question: Where do you need to remember that God has come close to you?

Action Step: Light a candle tonight and sit in silence for one minute, thanking God for being with you.

Prayer: Emmanuel, thank You for coming close. Dwell with us this night and always. Amen.
