Love That Refuses to Shame-Monday, 12/22/25

Scripture: Matthew 1:18–19

Joseph had power—the power to expose, embarrass, and protect his reputation. Instead, he chose restraint. In a culture where shame could destroy a life, Joseph quietly protects Mary’s dignity.

Our world runs on exposure. We post, comment, share, and shame in seconds. Joseph’s love calls us to something radically different: using our power to protect instead of punish.

Refusing to shame doesn’t mean ignoring wrongdoing. It means remembering that people are more than their worst moment. Joseph reminds us that courageous love chooses mercy even when judgment feels justified.

This kind of love changes the tone of families, workplaces, churches, and communities.

Reflection Question: Where are you tempted to shame instead of show compassion?

Action Step: Refuse to participate in one conversation, post, or comment today that tears someone down.

Prayer: Merciful God, help me use my words and influence to protect dignity, not destroy it. Shape my heart toward courageous love. Amen.
