Scripture: John 15:1–11
Jesus speaks about life using the image of a vine and branches. The branches don’t strain to produce fruit; they stay connected. Growth flows from relationship, not effort.
Many of us reverse that order. We try to do first and connect later. We push ourselves to be more patient, kinder, more faithful—often running on empty. Jesus invites us to a different rhythm: remain, then bear fruit.
Putting first things first means prioritizing connection over productivity. It means trusting that time spent with God is not wasted time, but formative time.
A stronger life grows not from pushing harder, but from staying connected to the source of love and life.
Reflection Question:
Where are you trying to produce fruit without staying connected?
Concrete Practice:
Spend five quiet minutes today doing nothing but sitting in God’s presence—no agenda, no list, just awareness.
Prayer:
Jesus, help me remain in you. Teach me to receive before I try to produce. Amen.
