Scripture: 1 Kings 19:9–13 (Key verse: v.12 – “After the fire came a gentle whisper.”)

When Elijah fled to a cave, overwhelmed and afraid, he longed to hear from God. He expected something dramatic—an earthquake, a storm, a blazing fire. But the Holy One wasn’t in the noise. God’s voice came in a gentle whisper.

We live in a world filled with noise—constant notifications, news alerts, and chatter. It’s easy to assume God only speaks through big signs. But often, the divine voice comes softly, when we slow down enough to notice. Listening to God takes quiet, patience, and space.

Silence can feel uncomfortable, but it’s in those still moments that clarity and peace emerge. Elijah’s story reminds us that listening isn’t about volume—it’s about presence.

Reflection Question: When was the last time you slowed down enough to notice God’s gentle voice?

Action Step: Take five minutes today to sit in silence. Breathe deeply, and simply say, “Speak, Holy One, I’m listening.”

Prayer: God of quiet presence, help me slow down, silence the noise, and be open to Your gentle whisper. Amen.
