Scripture: Romans 8:14–17, 26–27
Paul reminds us that we are children of God, not spiritual outsiders trying to earn a place. The Spirit helps us cry, “Abba! Father!” That word “cry” matters. Prayer is not always polished. Sometimes it is a whisper, a sigh, a tear, or silence.
Paul also says that when we do not know how to pray, the Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. That is deeply freeing. You are not cut off from God when you are tired, distracted, grieving, anxious, or unsure what to say.
Unfinished prayers still count. Silent prayers still count. A whispered “help” at 2 a.m. can be prayer. The Spirit carries what we cannot put into words.
Reflection Question: Where do you need to trust that God receives even your wordless prayers?
Practice: Sit quietly for two minutes. Do not force words. Simply breathe and imagine the Spirit praying within you.
Prayer: God who is near, when I do not know what to say, remind me that your Spirit is already praying within me. Amen.
