Scripture: Numbers 13:25–33
Devotion
The story changed the second time the spies told it. At first, they simply described what they saw. But as fear grew, their language grew bigger, more dramatic, more overwhelming.
Fear does that. It exaggerates. It magnifies. It turns something difficult into something impossible.
We do this all the time. A small problem becomes a huge one. A possibility becomes a certainty of failure. Our thoughts spiral, and before long, we’re convinced the situation is worse than it really is.
One of the most powerful things we can do is examine our assumptions. Not every thought we have is true. Not every fear we feel is accurate.
Learning to pause and ask, “Is this really true?” can begin to loosen fear’s grip.
Reflection Question: What fear in my life might be exaggerated or bigger in my mind than in reality?
Action Step: When you feel anxious today, pause and ask: “What are the actual facts here?”
Prayer: God, help me see truth clearly and not be overwhelmed by what isn’t real. Amen.
