Scripture:
Matthew 5:13–16
Jesus calls ordinary people “the light of the world.” That statement can feel surprising. We often think of ourselves as inconsistent, busy, or unsure — not radiant. Yet Jesus speaks these words to everyday people with everyday struggles.
Light doesn’t exist for itself. Light exists to help others see. When Jesus names us as light, it means our lives can help others see love, hope, and grace more clearly.
We don’t create this light on our own. We reflect the light of Christ. Like the moon reflects the sun, we shine because God’s love shines on us first.
Your light may not feel dramatic, but it matters. Even a small lamp changes a dark room.
Reflection Question:
Where might your everyday life already be shining more than you realize?
Action Step:
Offer one intentional word of encouragement to someone today.
Prayer:
God of light, help me trust that your light shines through my ordinary life. Amen.
