All Saints Day helps us remember that our lives are built from gifts handed to us by people who came before: faith, stories, habits, courage, recipes, skills, generosity, places, traditions, and sometimes financial resources. Jesus does not rush his friends past grief; he promises that grief will not have the final word. Hebrews pictures us surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. Stewardship includes receiving a legacy with gratitude and deciding what part of it we will carry forward.
